FAQ: Waffle Cone Slouchy Hat
This is a help/FAQ post for the Waffle Cone Slouchy Hat (free crochet pattern!)
Q: Can I use worsted weight yarn for this pattern?
A: No, it’s way skinnier than this yarn. I am working on a worsted weight version of the pattern but it may be a while before it’s ready.
Q: I don’t understand how to start the hat. Can you show photos?
A: Here ya go! :)
It starts off with a chain of 4 as you can see above. All of the dc’s in round 1 go into the first ch, A.K.A. the 4th ch from the hook (#1 in the above photo).
The arrow above points to the first ch.
After you have 8 dc’s in that spot (remember that your ch in the beginning counts as 1 dc), you can slip stitch to join to finish the round.
Q: How do I add a stripe to my hat like you did?
A: Use your main color up until round 9, then switch to your stripe color. Use your stripe color for rounds 9 & 10 and then switch back to your main color for the rest of the hat.
